‘Balagokulam’ celebrates Sri Krishna Janmashtami in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 15 (VSK) Ashtami Rohini (Sreekrishna Jayanthi or Krishna Janmashtami) was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety all over the State today.

Colourful processions organised by Balagokulam in connection with Sree Krishna Jayanthi, adorned all most all the towns and cities. Several Ashrams, including Amritapuri of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi also celebrated the birthday of Lord Sree Krishna.
Thousands of children, dressed up like Lord Krishna took part in the Shobha Yatra. Traditional art forms, Bhajans and band troupes lent colour to the Yatra.

Large number of people lined up on either side of the roads here to see the colourful procession held in the evening.

Dressed in yellow clothes, girded with golden bands, a crown on the head and a colourful peacock feather on its top, hundreds of little Krishnas lined up in the Sobha yathra, presenting a feast to the eyes of the viewers.

Priests performed special rites. Temples served a ceremonial feast for devotees. Ganapthy Homam , Gopuja  and Prasadamoottu  were held in temples throughout the State, while Janmashtami Puja was celebrated in the evening.
