Vadakkancherry (Palakkad): Santhakumari Amma (85) turned a role model for the society by donating land, which is more than Rs one crore worth, to Seva Bharathi. Thus her mom’s memory is made perpetual. The donor, Erattuparambil Santhakumari (Vadakkancherry) donated 60 cents land, of her mother late Parukkutti Amma, to Navodhana Parishad, an organisation which rubs shoulders with Seva Bharathi in the realm of social services. Parukkutti Amma died a decade before. Santhakumari Amma’s husband C. Radhakrishan also died a few years back.
Parukkutti Amma had wished to launch a refuge centre for the people who are isolated during old age. Recently Santhakumari Amma heard about Seva Bharathi’s resolution to run such an institution. Then, she thought that Seva Bharathi is the best bet for the materialisation of her mom’s dreams. That is why she donated the land to Navodhana Parishad. She handed over the documents with the permission of the children of her late son Shaji. Navodhana Parishad treasurer Swaminathan, RSS Zilla Sahakaryavah Manikantan, Sujith, R. Asokan, Sooryajith and Prasad Chakkingal were present during the auspicious occasion.
