Kannur: CPM state committee member P. Jayarajan has claimed that youth have been drawn toward extremism through Abdul Nasser Madani. Jayarajan alleged that Madani’s speeches and tours after the demolition of the Babri Masjid played a significant role in this shift.
In his new book, Jayarajan states that Madani’s ISS (Islamic Service Society) provided weapons and training to Muslim youth. The book is set to be released on Saturday by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Jayarajan noted that the left has limited influence among Muslim and Christian communities, and serious evaluation is needed to address the lack of influence among Muslim minorities. Efforts to engage with these communities often attract criticism for “minority appeasement,” posing a major political challenge for the left, he said. The book also discusses ISIS recruitment.
Jayarajan commented that only a very small number of people in Kerala have been attracted to ISIS. He also alleges in the book that campuses in the state have become gathering spots for those with extremist ideologies.
