Thiruvananthapuram : Killings during the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) were 1677, whereas only 1516 killings happened during the LDF rule from 2016, said Kerala Chief Minister in the Assembly on Feb 23. He was answering to a query by Muslim League MLA N. Shamsudheen.
The Chief Minister alleged that the Opposition is the spokespersons for the communal forces whereas the Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan of the Congress alleged that this government is incapable of protecting the life and property of the people.
The number of killings during the LDF and the UDF shows the pathetic law and order situation in the state. Satheesan alleged that Kerala instead of building a corridor of growth is creating a corridor of goons. .This shows the failure of the ruling front who contested the statement of Yogi Adityanath that unless cast votes judiciously, UP will turn into Kerala.
Pinarayi Vijayan said during the UDF rule, 35 political murders were reported. Pinarayi Vijayan said during the LDF rule, 26 political killings were reported. From 2016 to 2021, 86,390 cases of atrocities sgainst women were reported. Till Feb 21, six political murders were reported from the state. Three of the accused are RSS, BJP activists. Two of them are SDPI and in one case, Congress activist. Out of 92 accused, 73 were arrested, Chief Minister said.
Under Operation Kaval (security) from Dec 18, 2022, to February 15 actions were taken against 904 under criminal laws and 63 people under CAPA. 1457 people were held for various crimes. New Cyber investigation wing and Economic crime wing will be formed, the Chief Minister said.
