Kochi: The Sabarimala Karma Samithi has decided to light one crore ‘Makara lamps’ on the ‘Makara Vilakku’ day. The decision was taken at a meeting of the state committee held in Kochi. The Karma Samithi has also decided to show Makara Jyothi throughout the state on Makara Vilakku Day every year to maintain Sabarimala’s customs and purity.
The lamp will be lit in temples and public places across the state from 6.30 pm to 7.15 pm on that day. The Karma Samithi has asked all Ayyappa devotees to participate in large numbers irrespective of caste and creed.
The Sabarimala Karma Samithi had lit the Ayyappa-jyoti previous year too.
