Leaders of Hindu Aikya Vedi were arrested at Eloor in Kochi for conducting a program in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The police arrested the organizers of the program.
Earlier, there was a call to shut shop in Malappuram and Kuttiyadi while BJP was holding public meetings to explain CAA to the people. Now the police have resorted to arresting leaders organizing programs supporting an Act that is passed by the Indian Parliament.
Kerala communist government had passed a resolution in the Assembly against the CAA and has now gone to the Supreme Court questioning the Act. Now the government is trying to stifle those who are conducting peaceful meetings to educate people about the truth of CAA.
People in Kerala, especially from the minority communities are being misled by communist parties and the Congress about CAA. They are creating fear among them by repeating that CAA is against the Muslims of this country.
There was a widespread protest against Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, for supporting the CAA. However, he said that as the Constitutional head of the state it is his duty to defend an Act passed by the Parliament.
