A group of IslamoLeftists in JNU Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) defaced the newly put up V D Savarkar Marg signboard on campus and replaced it with a poster calling it ‘Mohammad Ali Jinnah Marg’.
JNUSU President-elect Aishe Ghosh posted the defaced signboard last night and had claimed that the name was changed to ‘B R Ambedkar Marg’. “We can never ever accept apologists and stooges of the British who undermined our secular fabric. Let’s respect those who gave us our constitution,” she said in a Facebook post.
However, later even the B R Ambedkar Marg signboard seems to have been defaced and replaced by a poster calling it ‘Mohammad Ali Jinnah Marg’. In a historic development, a road in JNU leading to IIMC campus had been named after Veer Savarkar on March 16. The road named as ‘VD Savarkar Marg’ was one of the recommendations of the JNU Campus Development Committee made in July 2019. In July 2019, the JNU Campus Development Committee had recommended names of several freedom fighters for various roads to the Executive Council (EC).
