Thiruvananthapuram: Samadrishti Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (Saksham), a national organization for differently-abled individuals, will organize a five-day ‘National Saksham Utsav’ focusing on equality, self-reliance, technology, and employment opportunities. Speaking at a press conference, organizing committee chairman and MP C. Sadanandan Master announced that the event will be held from January 20 to 24 at the Putharikandam Ground in Thiruvananthapuram.
The ‘Saksham Utsav’ will serve as a platform to showcase the talents of differently-abled individuals, bring various sectors together, and highlight how advancements in science and technology can be effectively utilized to improve their quality of life. Organized under the leadership of Saksham, the fair will be a convergence of government institutions, industry, academia, researchers, healthcare and rehabilitation experts, startups, NGOs, and differently-abled individuals. One of the primary goals of the festival is to bring together the experience, knowledge, expertise, and technologies developed by organizations and institutions working in this field.
In connection with the event, a mega inclusive expo, national seminars, skill development workshops, and cultural programs will also be organized. It will provide awareness about various ideas, initiatives, products, and services aimed at improving the quality of life of differently-abled individuals and enabling their active participation in mainstream society.
Technologies and products designed to make the daily lives of differently-abled individuals more independent and convenient will be showcased at the Mega Inclusive Expo.
The fair will also focus on increasing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for differently-abled individuals. By facilitating interaction between employers, skilled job seekers, skill development institutions, and entrepreneurship programs, new opportunities for economic empowerment and self-reliance will be created. Officials stated that various cultural programs showcasing the talents and creativity of differently-abled individuals will also be presented.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Vijnana Bharati, along with academic partners including the Kerala University of Health Sciences, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (Deemed University), and CWRDM.
Saksham State President and former Kottayam Medical College Superintendent Dr. P. Balachandran, Saksham Utsav Vice Chairman Dr. C. Suresh Kumar, General Secretary Dr. Sunil Kumar, Saksham Kerala-Tamil Nadu Organizational Secretary P.V. Pradeeep Kumar, and State Secretary Haridas spoke at the event.
