Kerala Governor Says RSS Youth’s Murder Disturbed Him.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala governor (retd) justice P Sathasivam on Saturday said that the murder of an RSS -ABVP activist in the daylight had disturbed him. He was reacting to the murder of Shyam Prasad, 24, a student of Government Industrial Training Institute, Kakkayngad, kannur.
He was inaugurating the Nishagandhi Nritholsavam organized by the Tourism Department.The governor said the incident created a dent in the image of the state. Justice Sathasivam urged the police to be vigilant to avoid such incidents in future. He also said that political parties should carry out coordinated efforts to ensure peace in the region.
Shyam was hacked to death by a gang on 19-01-2018 (Friday night). The police on Sunday recorded the arrest of four SDPI activists in connection with the case. The accused were taken into custody from Thalappuzha in Wayanad District. The BJP on Saturday observed a shutdown in Kannur and Mahe to protest against the murder.
The ABVP, has called for a shutdown of educational institutes on January 22. They have also sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency into the murder.
