Kozhikode: Thinker and writer Rathan Shaarda said that RSS always maintain farsighted stands with respect to Social-Cultural-National issues and also practise them. But, several people assess RSS resolutions on the basis of politics. The resolutions passed by RSS Akhil Bharaitya Prathinidhi Sabha are not acceptable to many immediately. But, we witness the fact that, on later stage, several other organisations, governments and other establishments accept them and implement them. Shaarda cited several examples in this connection. The resolution demanding trifurcation of Kashmir is one among them. It was passed in 1993 after serous deliberations. It was the lengthiest discussion in the history of RSS resolutions. The nation accepted it after several decades.
Another topic is reservation. Forty resolutions have been passed on national issues; 22 two of them were in the context of minority affairs. 15 resolutions on Hindu social issues; 17 on economic affairs; 14 on culture; 25 on Jammu Kashmir; 17 on North East matters; and 15 on Pakistan affairs. They were never modified, but the governments took them up on later stage.
Even though they invited the wrath of the others during the contemporary periods, Sangh stands were accepted later on. Sangh lost the lives of several swayamsevaks due to its stand in Khalistan issue. Still Sangh did not change the stand. Later on it was proved that Sangh stand was correct. Sangh style is to see that its resolutions are accepted and implemented. The policies RSS has been following since the last few decades with respect to social harmony, eradication of caste discrimination, country’s defence, demographic balance, reservation, etc. have been now followed by the country. Shaarda obtained his PhD for the studies on the historic significance of the RSS resolutions.
Shaarda emphasises that RSS resolutions are the guiding lights for the social transformation and reformation. RSS resolutions are prepared on the basis of deep studies of various issues affecting the social life. RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prathinidhi Sabha conclaves are attended by national and state level senior leaders and senior functionaries of Sangh-inspired organisations. The resolutions undergo hair-splitting deliberations during the session of the Sabha.
Shaarda was speaking, in connection with the Amruthashatham Lecture series of Kesari Malayalam weekly, on “RSS Resolutions – Historic Documents of Social-Cultural Stands”.
Kozhikode Press Club Secretary P.R. Rakesh presided. Reception Committee Chairman P.N. Devadas was present. Kavalam Sasikumar, Deputy Editor of Janmabhumi Malayalam daily, welcomed the gathering. National Teachers Union (NTU) Kozhikode district general secretary B. Bijeesh proposed vote of thanks.
