Fr. Shaiju Kurien, Secretary of Nilackal Orthodox Church, and 47 Christian families joined BJP in a function of Christmas Sneha Sangamam, organised by BJP-led NDA, on December 30. Forty Seven Christian families joined BJP too in the same programme. V. Muraleedharan, Union Minister of state for External & Parliamentary Affairs inaugurated the programme.
Recently several prominent personalities joined BJP. Major Ravi, famous filmmaker and actor, was one among them. C. Reghunath, active Congress worker for five decades and former General Secretary of Kannur District Congress Committee, was another. Major is appointed state vice president and Reghunath a national council member of BJP. It is to be noted that Reghunath contested against chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, as the UDF candidate, in the last assembly elections of 2021.
Latest development indicates the political climate snowballing in the state in BJP’s favour. Fr. Shaiju Kurien’s joining the party is a befitting reply to the vicious and venomous propaganda of both ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and pseudo secular and communal forces of all colours, that BJP is communal, fanatic and anti-minorities.
