Kollam : Three people, including YouTuber conducting cookery shows and his father, were held for shooting pregnant cow and cooking meat. Those arrested are Rejif, his father Kamaruddin and Hilari. Gun used for shooting cow also seized. Hunters killed the pregnant cow set out for grazing at the Bharathipuram Oilpalm farm and transported meat. The remains of the cow were found from the farm. Saji, native of Kambamkode is the owner of the cow.
The accused were arrested following leads from local CCTV pictures showing suspicious Bolero car. Teams killing cattle for meat are widespread in the eastern side of Kollam. Five cows were lost from here in a month. Owners complain they were killed for meat. Hunters transport cows worth lakhs of rupees. There were complains of hunters hiding in oilpalm farm and transporting domestic animals. There are allegations of official connections in this illegal meat transit. Complaints of hunting domestic animals are also reported from Rehabilitation Plantations (RPL) too.
Police who found cows lifted from RPL and sold at Kadakkal were handed over to the owner. Police had arrested two in this connections. Rejif had given a portion of the meat to police too. He used to serve police curry cooked by cow’s meat. He used to serve meat curry to various police stations including Kadakkal. Besides police, he used to supply meat curry to Fire Force officials. He also propagated these videos.
