Shri Chandrakant, a medical assistant at government hospital in Kishtwar, had been provided with an armed PSO of J&K police, Rajinder Kumar, after a review of the threat he faces for his association with RSS. As per reports, there were three terrorists and they opened fire when Chandrakant along with his PSO was coming out of the hospital’s OPD around 12.30 pm. The militants fled the scene after snatching away the AK-47 rifle of the policeman. Inspector General of Police for Jammu zone, M K Sinha, confirmed shootout at the district hospital as an act of terror. “Searches have been launched to track down the militants who have taken along the service weapon of the deceased PSO,” he added.
