THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Popular Front of India has demanded that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should explain DGP Loknath Behera’s controversial statement that Kerala is becoming a recruitment target for terrorist organizations. ‘The Chief Minister, who is in charge of the Home Department, is also responsible for the revelations of the DGP. The police chief, who said that the terrorist links of the Malayalees are causing concern, is casting a shadow of suspicion over the people of the state. Educated people are said to be linked with terrorists. the DGP has a responsibility to investigate and clarify the situation,’ the Popular Front wrote on its Facebook page.
‘DGP Loknath Behera should clarify the controversial statement. Behra’s statement is mysterious, as he was an official accused of having links with the Sangh Parivar a long time ago. Behera was the official who gave a clean chit to the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and then Home Minister Amit Shah in the 2004 Pranesh Kumar-Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case in Gujarat. Moreover, the Sangh Parivar became influential in the Kerala Police during Behera’s term,’ the post read.
According to the Popular Front, the state police chief should not step down by making a statement that casts a shadow of suspicion over the entire state. It also stated that Behera should not degenerate like former DGP TP Senkumar by making such statements.’Former DGP TP Senkumar, who made similar statements, was seen joining hands with the RSS after stepping down from his post. Incumbent DGP Loknath Behera should not degenerate like Senkumar. The DGP should clarify how many people were recruited by the terrorist groups,’ Popular Front added.
