Kochi: The working report of the CPIM State Conference says that there is a shift among scheduled caste/scheduled tribe category, which was the party’s strong hold for decades. The report also says that there is a drain from Hindu vote base. The report presented by CPIM State Secretary, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also pointed out the necessity to counter minority communalism. The report suggests that identity politics is keeping dalit and backward sections from the party. This has to be countered. The report indicates that, the alliance with Muslim league is not going to materialise soon. There is an allegation that the CPIM is in alliance with SDPI and the Popular front. There is also a criticism that the function of the party is not extending to the culture field. The report also laments that cultural leaders are now participating in BJP Programmes.
FLAG HOISTING SINGING NAMO NAMASTE
The flag hoisting at CPIM State Conference was held without floganring of “Lal Salam”. It was hoisted while the song Namo Namaste was sang. To show piece secularism Muslim, Christian and Hindu worship places were erected in the conference venue. The CPIM cadres are hapless before the trolls. Song Namo Namaste was played during the flag hoisting of the state conference. Elder leader Anathalavattom Anandan hoisted the flag.
WOMEN LEADERS ARE FACING ILL-TREATMENT IN CPIM- MINISTER R. BINDU
CPIM is a mailed dominated organisation, alleges Minister R. Bindu. Often male leaders are ill-treating lady comrades. Even if complaints are made against those ill-treatments, the complainants are facing ill- treatment, alleges Bindu. Many other lady comrades also raised the issue. Even though many ladies are made branch secretaries, there is male domination in the party.
LADY RESERVATION IN PARTY, KODIYERI BALAKRISHNAN MADE ANTI WOMAN REMARK
The answer of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to the query, whether 50% of the leadership will be reserved to the ladies, has evoked public criticism. The counter question by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was “whether you are advising to improve the party or to destroy”. This comment was made by the State Secretary, while suggestions of more lady representation aroused. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was confronted with a question while he claims that CPIM is ahead of other parties in women reservation, women safety and women empowerment. He was also confronted with a question, whether we can expect a lady Chief Ministry in the future. To answer this, he lightly said that he had not thought that much. The members critic that even though the number of ladies branch secretaries increased, the party is still parcitial.
